I number of people have been digging out their old photos and posting some. Many times I have shared some of mine with you, but since I have nothing worth while to post at the moment, I guess I'll just dig into my nostalgic collection....
Some of you may, or may not, know that I'm a navy brat and we were once stationed for 3 years in the Philippines. My dad was captian of a small freighter there which I used to call my "private yacht", as this picture prooves (taken about 1965).
and "The Boatswain" at the helm.....
If you follow the link... my older brother is copying his former JS entries into a site of his own.
We returned to the States in time for me to begin high school. I don't have many pictures of those years, unfortunately. For 3 of the 4 high school years I marched in the banner corp.... the following picture our dear Simon once used in his JS Saga...
and this is my senior class picture.
Hard to believe that was 42 years ago!!
So, enough memories... now it's YOUR turn!
Dorrie
Very cute and love that part about the ship was your "private yacht" !!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful high school graduation photo. Mine would scare ya,lol!
Guess what?! I do have my beauteeeful brand new scanner/copy/print setting here looking pretty....but have not had time , rather energy, to gather my photos and scan them, plus reading all the *stuff* about my scanner and how to, etc.
Your Dad looks so handsome! Something about a man in uniform, lol! ( like the man I was married to for 14 years, US Navy :)
Marching in the parade is reallly fun! Also, I was riding on a float in a formal gown...hope to find that old (1961) photo! You look pretty!
Guess I should go update now...been too upset to blog or sing....much better now.
{hug}
DORRIE, I JUST NOTICED A WEIRD COMMENT IN THE ENTRY BELOW THIS ONE ABOUT THE ICE-SKATING. IT'S SCAM..'ER I MEAN *SPAM* THE COMMENTER IS NAME SING.
ReplyDeletethanks Judy... I deleted it. I don't think I received an email notification about it so I missed it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better!
I do of course remember that photo and the terrible use I put it to! But I love the one on the freighter – you really look as if you’re enjoying yourself.
ReplyDeleteAs for old photos of me, as you may remember, I’ve already done it, but if you want another look, here they are.
I would love full size copies of the Mark pictures. I just hit that portion of the rebuild of the Boatswain's journal and would add them.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy these!
ReplyDeleteCute pictures- It's fun to look back sometimes and think about the days gone by isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

ReplyDeleteSimon... I loved those pictures!!
ReplyDeleteCute photos...I love your school photo....
ReplyDeleteI should do a post like this.....
42 years ago??! Ok spill it Dorrie...what did your generation do to keep all of you looking much younger than your years?? My mom graduated a couple of years before you and all of her friends look barely over 40 too! :)
