Stopping to smell the flowers.... literally

The weather has turned so fantastic, I had to take advantage of it. I decided to drive to another favorite spot of mine, Coronado. On the beach there is this old hotel, all made of wood, which is an historic site.... and the place where "Some Like it Hot" with Marylin Monroe was filmed.


I don't go anywhere without my camera, and following the inspirations I have gotten from many (former) journalspacers like Doug, I looked for motives... and found some.

I took a walk along the boardwalk, breathed in the sea air, and did some people watching. Then I found this bunch of "Birds of Paradise"....


My days here in San Diego are getting short. Next Thursday I again board a jet plane to head back to Germany. It'll be quite a climate shoch... temps here expected to reach up to 86°F while in Germany we are having the worst cold spell since over 20 years, in my area around -5°F!!

Like most of you, I'm still fighting my way through this blogging site. I guess I'll get used to it, though there are still hopes that someone may revive the old JS!! Now wouldn't that be GREAT?

    Those Birds-of-Paradise are so beautiful. How nice that you get to enjoy them in person. You always post such amazing pix. Enjoy the warmth of Calif. before heading back to the reality of Germany. lol. Hugs.

    Beautiful photos Dorrie! My foster daughter and her husband live right on the beach not far from there! It is lovely!

    My daughter Meg (who is still in Bayern) told me it was closer to -7'F today there. Brrrr! I like my nice 40'F Thanks very much! *smiling*

    One of these days I'm gonna stay at the "Hotel Del". Maybe if I don't eat in June I can pay for a night there. ;)

    Old hotels are wonderful. The fact that it's made of wood is amazing that it's still standing! :)

    Great pictures, Dorrie! Thankyouuuu for sharing, as I love to see other parts of the country/world/USA.

    Oh! We have lots of Birds of Paradise flowers here in St Pete,too! In fact I forgot to put my own on my blog, lol.

    Your vacation is just flying by isn't it? It's always that way, at least for me. I'm glad you got out and enjoyed the weather. It's been on the chilly side here. But beautiful for walking with Xena. I hope the rest of your stay is just wonderful. How's your Mom doing? Love ya! xoxoxo

    Oh and one thing more. Either Dorrie's fun forum misses Dorrie, or Fin and Girlblogger have been banned.

    And there is no place to go and see if a third person is having a problem accessing the site.

    The palm trees and the first flower shot are my favorites. I'm glad that you always take your camera. I take mine when I go shopping. You never know :-)

    Final price was $5,600. Twas not me, but we have not heard from Virginia Beach yet, cuz it's the weekend.
